Journal Based CME
In January 2009, the AAPM&R launched its own scientific journal, PM&R, which designates 3 articles for CME per issue. Each journal CME activity is designated for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ and fulfills the requirement for Part II of Maintenance of Certification® (MOC) set forth by the American Board of PM&R (Lifelong Learning).
- PM&R - journal based CME (2010-2012 articles are free for members!)
Note: Prior to 2009, journal articles were available through Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, formerly a joint publication of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM) and AAPM&R. For more information on this publication, please visit the Archives website: http://www.archives-pmr.org/
Interested in reviewing a scientific manuscript for PM&R?
How to Review a Scientific Manuscript was a presentation given at the 2008 AAPM&R Annual Assembly in San Diego. Although the workshop was directed toward journal peer reviewers, the content is of value is to anyone with an interest in evaluating scientific literature more critically.
This session includes an introduction by PM&R Editor-in-Chief Stuart M. Weinstein, MD, on the roles and responsibilities of peer reviewers, and a description of the PM&R manuscript review process. The presentation by PM&R Associate Editor Kristin Sainani, PhD, emphasizes peer-review assessment of a manuscript’s hypothesis, study design, data collection and analysis, statistical methods, and common errors encountered in this peer-review process. Finally, Dr. Weinstein discusses preparing and uploading reviews incorporating the specific requirements of the PM&R journal.
