Self-Directed Physiatric Education Program (Study Guides)
The Self-Directed Physiatric Education Program Study Guides are planned and produced in accordance with the ACCME Essentials for developing continuing medical education.
A CME study package covering the scope of physiatric medicine complete with a self-assessment examinations (SAE-P) – published annually as a Medical Education Supplement formally to the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and beginning in 2009, as a supplement to AAPM&R’s new scientific journal, PM&R. Designed for practicing physicians as well as residents in PM&R, each volume covers two important rehabilitation topics.
Study Guide Editions
The Fifth and Sixth Edition Self-Directed Physiatric Education Program Study Guides include all associated individual Medical Education Supplements compiled in an attractive binder.
- The Fifth Edition Self-Directed Physiatric Education Program Study Guide includes all the individual Archives of PM&R Medical Education Supplements from 2000-2004.
- the Sixth Edition includes all the individual Archives of PM&R Medical Education Supplements from 2005-2008, and the new PM&R Medical Education Supplement from 2009.

Individual Study Guides - Associated SAEPs Eligible for CME
AAPM&R members receive the Study Guide for FREE annually in March. If you lost your copy or want additional copies you should use this order option. If you have the study guide and want to claim CME – you should NOT purchase this product as it will give you a second copy of an item you already have. Purchasing the Study Guide will also not entitle you to claim CME for this same fee.
The Self-Assessment for Practitioner (SAE-P) related to the Study Guide content (and included within the study guide supplement) is the CME activity. In order to claim CME, you may either fill out the appropriate applications within the Study Guide supplement or purchase and complete online on Academe. Please note: Study Guide articles (in PDF format) are also accessible through the online version of the SAE-P.

If you have the study guide and want to claim CME – please note the Self-Assessment for Practitioner (SAE-P) associated with this Study Guide (and included within the study guide supplement) may no longer available for CME. However, past SAE-Ps can serve as an excellent tool to test your knowledge as you prepare for the boards or re-certification exam.
